Big Day for Chan the Man

Well, since last post in July a few things have happened in our family. We traveled to Texas via Oklahoma (long story!) to get a second orthopedic opinion for Chan, he went on his first beach trip, I tore ligaments in my ankle and still in a boot, Abigail had an emergency appendectomy, kids started school (2 "off campus" and 1 "on campus"), my oldest turned teenager, parent/child dedication for Chan plus I gave my testimony at our church, dental appointments (guess who has the first cavity ever? Our newest family member. Ahhhh, American diet!), Abigail's volleyball season ends this week, and... Chan is having bilateral ankle surgery today. Whew- guess I realize why I've not posted in awhile.
Reading a "love note" from me in the way to hospital. He smiled VERY big when I signed "mama" in Chinese! He said I did very good!

Same steps in Florida but five years had passed. Audrey An saw the beach for first time in 2009 and Chan in 2015.

My handsome men!

First day of third and eighth grade

Teenager in the house!

Dedication Sunday...
Bawled my eyes out when David and Pastor Mel kneeled to pray for him. It was a very special time. We had asked if there could be an explanation of Chan and Audrey An's relationship in China- other than our close friends and family many people didn't know they were foster siblings.

1:30 update: Chan is having surgery right now to realign his ankle bones (will take about three hours). He will be in double casts and completely no weight bearing for at least four weeks then in walking boots for two weeks. He's so brave and has a great attitude! I told him we could be twins since I'm still my boot :-)

Hopefully, I'll get back on the blog band wagon and send out more updates.
